The Gujarat High Court observed on Friday that the state government gave no grounds for the ban on Jaswant's book and set aside the ban on Darjeeling MP Jaswant Singh's book "Jinnah :: India-Partition, Independence", imposed by the Gujarat government. Gujarat government had sought time to file a fresh notification but the court did not grant it.The original notification by the state government had said that Jaswant's book was objectionable, misleading and against public tranquillity. The court observed that the state government gave no grounds for the notification. The notification was issued under Section 95 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Indian Penal Code. "I am thrilled," Jaswant Singh told CNN-IBN while reacting to the ban being set aside. "Court observed that the government had not even read the book and not applied analysis in imposing the ban. The court also observed that the government didn't practice care caution and prudence in imposing the ban," he said. Both Jaswant and the book's publisher Rupa Publications had challenged the ban in the High Court. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/gujarat-hc-sets-aside-ban-on-jaswant-singhs-book/100660-37.html
