The title was earlier credited as Khamoshi and Silence, but it was later changed.[1] Ranbir Kapoor reportedly plays the role of a deaf-mute person.[3] Priyanka Chopra will play the role of girl with autism.[4] Bhola Raj Sapkota, a Nepali actor, will play Ranbir kapoor's special friend. Ranbir Kapoor is playing a nepali morigin in the film. In addition, Tollywood actress Ileana D'Cruz will play the role of the narrator.[5] Basu confirmed that Katrina Kaif was the first choice for the role of the narrator, but she later opted out.[6] The film began shooting on 11 March 2011.[7] [8]The music and background score of the film is composed by Pritam. The soundtrack album has 7 songs.[9] A song named Ala Barfi! sung by Mohit Chauhan was released as a single track on 7th August 2012.[10].
