Today, we will be talking about a scientific fact, mentioned in the Quran, regarding the male reproductive system. It is important to point out that while the Quran is not a science textbook, many of the latest scientific discoveries that were revealed in Quranic passages 1400 years ago.
This is in stark contrast with the Bible, which contains numerous scientific errors. For example, regarding genetics, in Genesis 30:37-42, Jacob changes the characteristics of animal offspring by having their parents look at white stripes while mating.
FIRST
We will examine the Quranic verse that describes the location of seminal fluid prior to being discharged.
Literal translation of Quran 86:6-7:
{(Man is) created from gushing water (which) comes out from between the backbone and the ribs.}
In other words, just prior to gushing or coming out of the body, seminal fluid is located between the backbone and the ribs.
At first glance, a layman might think that SEMEN comes out from the testicles.
Firstly, the verse specifies a fluid, and not just the sperm component.
Firstly, while SPERM is produced in the testicles, sperm are nowhere near the testicles prior to ejaculation.
Secondly, the verse mentions a fluid, and semen is comprised mostly of seminal fluids which are essential for natural fertilization.
While SPERM is produced in the testicles, NEITHER is the sperm NOR is the seminal fluid (essential for natural fertilization) anywhere
near them prior to ejaculation.
The verse specifically mentions the entire fluid, and not just the sperm component of semen.
So let's examine the process of emission, where all the components of semen are joined. Sperm is stored in the epididymis, which is not in the testicles, but above them. The Sperm which comprises 2 to 5% of the seminal fluid, travels up through the Vas Deferens duct, and around the bladder. Together, the seminal Vesicle, and the prostate gland, produce 90%, of the fluid in semen. This mixture travels through the prostate, and is joined by mucus from the bulbourethral glands, just below the prostate.
It is at this point, that semen is fully formed, comprising both the sperm and the seminal fluids. As we can see, just prior to coming out of the body, all components of semen are mixed near the prostate, which is centered in the body, Between the backbone and the ribs, Or between the spine and the chest, which is between the back and front of the abdomen or torso, And most certainly, not in the testicles, or in the lower body at all.
Someone might object by saying: the ribs are too high to say "the prostate is between the backbone & the ribs." To this objection, we answer that: the head is still between the shoulders even though it is too high, & the genitals are still between the legs, even though they are too high.
Now lets check the verse again.
This precise scientific description, of the location semen prior to coming out of the body
This precise scientific description could not have been known 1400 years ago, and even today most people don't know it, as we will see next.
SECOND
We will examine some false claims regarding the scientific accuracy of this verse.
In reference to this verse, answering-islam.org quotes mistake by Dr. William Campbell: "...we are left with the very real problem that the SEMEN IS COMING FROM the back or kidney area and not THE TESTICLES." In fact, SEMEN does NOT come from the testicles. (only the SPERM is produced there, which comprises 5% of semen). And as we saw earlier, SEMEN IS ACTUALLY FORMED NEAR THE PROSTATE.
Next, let's also listen to the false claims of the person discussislam: "This description reflects the view of Hippocrates, common in the 5th century...that SEMEN comes from all the fluid of the body & passes through the kidneys on the way to the penis. We now know that it comes from the testicles." First of all, DISCUSSISLAM also falsely claims semen comes from the testicles. It's astonishing how those attacking Islam make the same layman errors, without checking their facts.
In any case, The Quran does not contain the scientific errors of Hippocrates view
1)That Semen comes from all the fluid in the body.
2)That Semen passes through the kidneys.
As such, contrary to DISCUSSISLAM's misrepresentation, there is no similarity whatsoever, between this Quranic passage, and the view of Hippocrates.
Furthermore, Let's examine some more of Hippocrates related scientific errors, that are again NOT in the Quran:
1) sperm originate in the brain
2) men & women produce sperm
3) "healthy" sperm is produced by healthy parts of the body
4) stronger sperm results in males, weaker sperm results in females

Today, we will be talking about three scientific facts about the earth's atmosphere, which were stated in one brief passage of the Quran 1400 years ago. It is important to point out that while it is not a science textbook, yet, the Quran mentions numerous scientific facts long before they were discovered
FIRST
We will examine the state of the Earth's first atmosphere.
Regarding the evolution of the atmosphere, the University of Michigan's website states: "The first atmosphere was formed by outgassing of gases trapped in the interior of the early Earth, which still goes on today in volcanoes. For the Early Earth, EXTREME VOLCANISM occurred during differentiation, when massive heating and fluid-like motion in the mantle occurred."
Now, let's examine the Quran chapter 41 verses 9 to 11, which pertain to the creation of the earth:
9 {Do you indeed disbelieve in Him, Who created the earth in two Days}
10 {and Made in it mountains anchored from its top}
11 {Then He turned to the heaven while it was smoke, so He said to it and to the earth: come both of you, obediently or with dislike. They (both) said: we came with obedience.}
The Quran clearly refers to the "smoke" of Earth's 1st atmosphere,
Which was caused by extreme volcanic activity. This scientific fact, could not have been known, fourteen hundred years ago. Yet, the Quran mentions it.
And for those who will claim that "the word "smoke" is too general, as it could mean any type of gas", we will actually be citing the person DISCUSSISLAM (despite his belief that the Quran contradicts science).
Gas and smoke are not the same thing. Gas is a state of matter. Smoke is a collection of solids, liquids and gases that are omitted when a material combusts
The word used in the Quran to describe the 1st atmosphere is indeed "smoke" and not "gas".
And to demonstrate that this verse indeed refers to the Earth's atmosphere as it was being formed, we will, again, be citing DISCUSSISLAM's own words.
Discussislam admitted that this verse cannot be referring to the universe: " ...if one looks at the verses before and after this verse, one can see very clearly that it cannot have anything to do with the gaseous state of the universe. It says God created the earth, THEN he created the hills on the earth, and THEN it says He turned to the heavens when they were smoke."
Indeed, the word "heaven" in this verse does not refer to the universe,
rather, it refers to the "smokey" atmosphere of the early Earth's extreme volcanism, as we saw earlier.
Furthermore, the Quran's order of: the creation of the earth, and
THEN the mountains, and THEN the atmosphere, is the 2nd scientific fact from this passage that could not have been known 1400 years ago.
SECOND
We will examine the layers of the Earth's atmosphere.
Let's listen to the next verse in the passage (Quran 41:12) { So He decreed them seven heavens in two days, and Inspired in every heaven its ordainment }. Contrary to this false claim of discussislam:
Modern science usually specifies 4 layers in the Earth's atmosphere: The Troposphere, the Stratosphere, the Mesosphere, and the Thermosphere.
Separating these 4 layers, are 3 transition zones, or layers, ranging between 5 to 10 kilometers each, which also have their own unique effects on temperature: The Tropopause, The Stratopause, and the Mesopause
According to the encyclopedia of earth, atmospheric layers are classified based on their affects to temperature. So according to the classification itself, there are indeed 7 distinct layers in the earths atmosphere, each with its own unique effects on temperature.

The vast majority of sources exclude the "exosphere", at an altitude of 400 km, because it is part of outer space, which discussislam falsely claims to be another layer. According to reference.com, "The Kármán line lies at an altitude of 100 km is commonly used to define the boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space". More precisely, in 2009, scientists at the University of Calgary, determined (with a highly advanced ion measuring instrument), that SPACE actually BEGINS at an altitude of 118 km.
Therefore, the 7 layers listed are part of the Earth's atmosphere. Anything higher than 118 km is of part outer space (including most of the thermosphere & the exosphere).
The 7 distinct layers of the atmosphere is the 3rd scientific fact, stated from this same Quranic passage no less, that could not have been known 1400 years ago.

"After that He smoothed out the earth." (Qur'an, 79:30)
In the above verse, the word "daha" is used in the original Arabic. It, translated as "smoothed out," comes from the word "dahv," meaning "to spread." Although the word "dahv" also means to cover or to set out, the meaning of the verb is more than just a prosaic setting out, since it describes setting out in a circle.
The concept of roundness is also present in other words derived from "dahv." For example, the word "dahv" also refers to children dropping a ball into a hole in the ground, games involving throwing stones into holes and games played with walnuts. Words derived from that root are also used for an ostrich making a nest, cleaning stones from where it is about to lie down, the place where it lays its eggs and the egg itself.
Indeed, the Earth is round, in a manner reminiscent of an egg. The slightly flattened spherical shape of the Earth is known as geoid. From that point of view, the use of the word "daha" contains important information about the shape that Allah has given to the Earth. For hundreds of years, people imagined the Earth to be completely flat and only learned the truth thanks to technology. Yet, this fact was revealed in the Qur'an fourteen centuries ago.
