A respose to Pat condell's video "Ban the burka"
At the beginning Islam was the most revolutionary liberalization of women's rights the civilized world has ever seen. But afterwards Muslims became ignorant of this and now some Muslim countries are the scene of some of the worst abuses of women's rights. As the Latin proverb says, "Corruptio optimi pessima" (When the best is corrupted, it becomes the worst). The Qurân expresses the same theme in Sûrat al-Tîn: "We created man in the best pattern, and later reduced him to the lowest of the low."
Think of the possibilities for liberalization based on purely Islamic sources, not taking anything from the modern West. That would be truly Islamic feminism. The origin of Islam is far more liberal and feminist than what subsequent generations made of it.

"Why do Muslim women wear the hijab?"
It's not the first time this has happened and it is certainly an issue that needs to be addressed.
One of the major misconceptions about the hijab (covering of the body except the face and hands) is that young women are forced to wear it by their parents or by male family members.
Sumayya Syed, 16, says that what parents or men want have nothing to do with it. In fact, she astounds people who ask by saying that every woman should have this form of liberation.
Syed maintains that when a woman is covered, men cannot judge her by her appearance but are forced to evaluate her by her personality, character, and morals. "I tell them that the hijab is not a responsibility, it's a right given to me by my Creator who knows us best. It's a benefit to me, so why not? It's something every woman should strive to get and should want."
The young woman admits to being surprised that many people wonder if she wears the hijab everywhere (at home, when sleeping, in the shower). The truth is that Muslim women only cover themselves in front of men who are not direct relatives (brothers, fathers, and uncles) to prevent indecent acts or thoughts.

Based Upon A Poem Written by Mujtahid2006
Video Edited And Produced by Neocarvi
Glory be unto You that made kindness to me a worship for men.
Glorified is the created but glorious is the creator.
You have ordained for me crowns of cloth and silk that men may recognise my majesty.
I am enthroned upon their shoulders by your command.
They shall enter my presence in humility.
Provision is my tribute from them.
Respect is my due.
With life and blood do they guard me.
I am a protected treasure, of shrouded light, safe from those who would plunder me with their gaze.
You have made me a cradle of life, honoured and sacred.
Why should I be bound in shackles of forged whim and social expectation.
When being true to who I am You have promised me Your Face.
You have given me my rights in a world that would usurp them.
Though voices of men are louder and heavier.
Praise be unto You that have given unto our speech an equal weighting.
Exulted am I above men, that I possess honour beyond need of earning.
For Nobility is my birthright.
By their deeds, I shall recognise the virtuous amongst men.
By their faults, I shall see their humanity.
For those judged worthy and noble- shall I burden them with a sweet taste.
A mercy and love ordained; shall be our exchange.
A worship of You manifest.
A sweet fruit; tasted but never touched, consumed but never eaten.
Tasted by the senses and consumed by the heart.
I am a taste of paradise incarnate.
A reminder of divine mercy.
Precious life shall be our gift.
Thus, glorified shall we be anew.
By those seeking shade underneath my feet.
By those who would call me mother.

IRAN is experiencing a revolution that you won't hear about anywhere else.
Many Iranians are becoming bored with Islam. They are finding something else more satisfying and that gives them the peace they were searching for, but Islam did not provide.

FOX News Channel presents the documentary the Public Broadcasting System didn't want you to see.
It's a film about the difference between moderate Muslims and the radicals who want to kill us. It asks where are the moderate Muslims and why aren't they speaking out against the Jihadists? And it was financed with $675,000 of taxpayers' money.
This film was commissioned as part of the PBS series "America at the Crossroads" about the post 9/11 world, but PBS executives rejected it.
PBS claims the filmmakers were "alarmist, overreaching and unfair."
The filmmakers say they were censored because of liberal bias at PBS.
On a topic this important, we think you have the right to decide for yourself.

On June 23, 2009, President Sarcozy spoke (at the French parliament) concerning the burqa.
He said: In our country we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen.
It seems noble from Mr. Sarcozy to care for Muslim women !
Lets examine his words:
prisoners behind a screen.
Is this true?
Were talking about women walking in the streets, not about captives, held against their will
Indeed, when the late Michael Jackson had to cover his face and those of his children, specifically to avoid abuse,
he was never accused of holding himself and his children, prisoners behind a screen,
and he was never told by a higher authority
to let go of his feelings and opinions,
and to accept public harassment
because somebody else did not agree with him!
This is specifically what a Muslim woman wants
from covering her face:
Protecting her privacy according to her own opinion.
He said: cut off from all social life:
Again, it seems extremely noble from Mr. Sarcozi
to care about the social freedom of Muslim women !
How can this be achieved?
A 10 year old kid is intelligent enough to answer:
Obviously by providing MORE incentives to mix socially.
Yet for some reason, Mr. Sarcozi succeeded to get it backward !
We have to accept that he did not decipher
the extremely difficult concept,
that forbidding a woman from covering her face
does not change her mind about it;
it only makes her feel stronger
- about violating her personal choice.
He did not notice that
- by making it illegal for her to wear the burqa in public,
- HE was the one forcing her to stay at home,
indeed cut off from all social life.
He said: deprived of all identity:
Mr. Sarcozi truly went out of his way,
caring for so many things about Muslim Women.
We note that on this issue,
Mr. Sarcozi did not get it completely backward.
Indeed:
I do not even recognize another persons identity,
if I do not see his face,
I know more about his identity,
if I know more details about his face and body, his personal life... etc.
But is this truly the essence of having an identity?
Is this identity of value to the person concerned,
or do we humans understand something deeper
from the expression: deprived of identity?
The worst deprivation of identity
is to rob a person from his own opinion,
it has nothing to do with recognizing the face, or even the person.
Are we to understand that if we see a womans face,
now she has an identity,
and is worth something more,
while she was deprived of it
before my important person saw her face?
The ability of the late Michael Jackson to go shopping in disguise
as he chose,
or even be forced to cover his childrens faces,
was indeed preserving their identity,
not the opposite.
NO, Mr. Sarcozi:
Mankind values the identity
where you do not force your opinion on others,
regardless the superficial point of seeing their face or not.
...
...
On first consideration
it seems puzzling that Mr. Sarcozi does not notice his severe blunders,
after all, wasnt he intelligent enough to get elected for president?
But upon deeper reflection, it is difficult to accept that
his judgment about: imprisonment, social freedom, identity, religious signs subservience, and
debasement,
becomes deficient ONLY when discussing them in conjunction with the burqa,
while maintaining at least a normal level of intelligence concerning other subjects.
The confusion of Mr. Sarcozi must be due to reasons other than logical errors:
Panic from a growing non-Western religion ?
or whatever other reasons they truly are?
We hope he can reach behind his personal burqa
to find and correct these reasons.
